Mangiacopra 7 Arlmont Street Milford, CT 06460 Dear Mr. Mangiacopra, I am writing in response to your inquiry regarding James J. Hill's fishing trip to Quebec in 1902 and the possibility that he witnessed "an unusual marine animal" while in the Sydney Harbor. I have checked the papers that we have in the Wacouta files for July through the end of 1902, in the hope that either he or the captain of his yacht, D. A. Weed would have mentioned the occurrence. I was not able to locate anything in that file or in the general correspondence for that time period. On the chance that his wife, Mary, might have recorded something in her diary, I reviewed that as well with no success. I am sorry I could not be of any help to you with this quest. We hold the personal papers of James J. Hill and his son, Louis W. Hill at the Library, so keep us in mind if you have any future research needs. I have enclosed copies of our collection brochures for your interest. Sincerely, Eileen R. McCormack, Assoc. Curator MANUSCRIPTS DIVISION THE BUSINESS INFORMATION EXPERTS
